Here at Alpha Printing Inc we strive to make the printing process as painless as possible. Some of you are experts but we realize that some of you may need some direction. We have therefore provided for you a few guidelines for preparing your job to print in the most time and cost effective manner possible. When preparing a project please keep the following in mind:

• It is always preferred that original artwork be provided for logo and corporate identity projects, whether an electronic file or a pen and ink drawing. Often times what looks good on screen may not represent nearly as well when printed. You should avoid using PDF files, for example, instead of original artwork whenever possible. Artwork not provided in original format often times must be reformatted, and sometimes recreated entirely, to produce the desired result. This can unnecessarily add to production time and costs to you.

• When providing original art work in non-electronic formats (drawings, printouts, photos, etc.) it is important that it be as clean and crisp as possible.

•All fonts and graphics used must be included as independent files with client designed electronic layout files

•A printout or PDF should be provided for comparison whenever possible for client designed electronic layout

• Scanned images should be saved as tiff files whenever possible. Other formats that may be used are jpeg and gif.

•The optimal resolution for scanned photos is 150dpi-300dpi. The optimal resolution for scanned black and white text or simple line art is 600dpi. The optimal resolution for scanned art with both text and photographic or graphic elements is 300dpi.

•When proofing be sure to pay close attentions to those area that may be overlooked such as header and footer information, (ie) page numbers, issue, volume numbers, dates and times.

•Proof, proof and proof again. We cannot stress enough the importance of you, the client, in our proofing process.
